EV Charge Locator — Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes what information EV Charge Locator ("EV Charge Locator," "the App," "we," "us," "our") processes, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
- Email address — used to sign in to your account.
- Account identifier — an internal reference created when you sign up.
- Vehicle profile — the vehicle model you choose to save, and an optional nickname.
- Favorites — charging stations you choose to save for quick access.
- Device location — only when you grant permission.
- Search text — what you type when searching for a place.
- Authentication/session data — technical information needed to keep you signed in securely.
Charging-station information shown in the App (station locations, connectors, and similar details) is public infrastructure data, not personal data about you.
2. Location Data
- We only ever request foreground ("while using the App") location access — never background location tracking.
- Location is used to show nearby stations, center the map, calculate distance, and improve recommendations.
- EV Charge Locator does not keep a history of your location in its database.
- Your coordinates may be sent to our backend when needed to power nearby-station search or distance display.
- Mapbox, our map provider, receives the requests needed to display the map and to power place search.
- If you don't grant location access, the App still works, showing Denmark and Germany generally instead.
3. Account, Vehicles and Favorites
Creating an account is optional — you can browse the map and view charging stations without signing in. Signing in uses a one-time code sent to your email; we never use passwords. Signed-in users can save a vehicle profile and favorite charging stations, both linked to their account.
4. How We Use Information
- To provide and operate the App's features.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To save your vehicle profile and favorites.
- To provide location-based search and recommendations.
- To power place search.
- To maintain the security and reliability of our service.
We do not use your information for marketing profiling.
5. Service Providers
We work with the following providers to operate the App:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and backend functionality.
- Mapbox — maps and place search.
Charging-station data sources (such as Open Charge Map and Germany's Bundesnetzagentur) are covered separately in the App's own Data Sources & Licenses screen — they are infrastructure data providers, not processors of your personal data.
6. Analytics, Advertising and Data Sale
EV Charge Locator does not use any third-party advertising SDK, does not use behavioral analytics, and does not use tracking for advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal data.
Our service providers may generate ordinary technical and security logs as part of running their services — this is normal infrastructure operation, not advertising or profiling.
7. Data Retention
We keep account-associated data (your account identifier, vehicle profile, and favorites) for as long as your account exists and is needed to provide the App's functionality.
Location history is not stored by EV Charge Locator.
8. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time: open the App, go to Account, then Account management, then Permanently delete account.
Deleting your account removes:
- your authentication account
- your account profile
- your saved vehicles
- your favorites
You can also request deletion, or ask questions about it, at support@evchargelocator.app, or visit evchargelocator.app/account-deletion.
Deletion is processed as soon as we can. Routine backups or security logs maintained by our service providers may remain for a limited period in accordance with their own retention practices.
9. Data Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network communication, access controls, and protected session storage. No method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.
10. International Processing
Our primary backend is hosted in the EU. Mapbox is an international service provider, and map/search requests may be processed in other countries as part of providing that service.
11. Children's Privacy
EV Charge Locator is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will address it.
12. Changes and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the effective date above will reflect the latest version.
